Zach Woods和自己的老同事——《硅谷》主创Mike Judge合体的Peacock成人向动画剧集《木偶新知》（In the Know）在去年九月获得剧集预订后，于日前公开配音阵容：包括《继承之战》“Gerri” J. Smith-Cameron、《未来总统日记》“Bobby” Charlie Bushnell、《人生酒友》“Sherm” Carl Tart以及《绝望写手》“Jessica” Caitlin Reilly将在剧中献声。　　这是这家流媒体首度涉足这一领域的项目，将会喜剧化模仿调侃全国公共广播电台（NPR），将故事架设于主角、NPR人气第三（为人善良但偶尔有点虚伪、平凡）的主持人（定格动画木偶）“Lauren Caspian”（Zach献声）和他的节目。标题「In the Know」便是他的节目名字，每一集都将以一期节目的形式呈现，他将与现实世界的人类嘉宾进行深入交谈。这之外，Lauren还要和自己各不相同的幕后班底打交道。　　今天加盟的四位都是剧集中这档虚拟节目的“班底”，Caitlin献声的“Fabian”是事实核查员与资料搜集者；Charlie配音的“Chase”则是来到这里的实习生；至于J.Smith配音的“Barb”是本节目的联合制片人，而Carl负责的“Carl”则是音频工程师。Mike会在剧中为“Sandy”配音，是位文化评论人。

2022年4月，苹果TV+宣布为这部迷你剧开绿灯，伊德里斯·艾尔巴将主演并担任监制。乔治·凯将担任编剧，吉姆·菲尔德·史密斯将担任导演。

这部家庭合奏剧改编自凯伦·金斯伯里(Karen Kingsbury)的畅销小说，讲述了伊丽莎白和约翰·巴克斯特(John Baxter)以及他们的成年子女在有或没有上帝的情况下度过人生的高潮和低谷的故事。

Through the eyes of Godfrey (Riley Keough) and a local police officer (Lily Gladstone), the series takes us into the hidden world of the young girls accused of the murder — revealing startling truths about the unlikely killer.
